Though Hans Fallada has been living and working during the dark Nazi times, thanks to the use he makes of language, nowadays he counts as one of the most modern German story-tellers. His influential work has been recently re-discovered and since 2011 many of his books are being re-published in many languages. This gives us the opportunity to make THE documentary about the genius born in Greifswald.

Hans Fallada’s life is like a movie, indeed: between murder and suicide attempts, art and madness, addictions, crimes and heroic actions.

Following the steps of one of his characters, Iron Gustav, who went from Berlin to Paris and back and accompanied by the X-Filme produced remake of „Everybody dies alone / Alone in Berlin“ with Daniel Brühl and Emma Thompson, we want to make a documentary for 2017, to celebrate all stations of his life, from an artist and political point of view, as well as portraying him in his weakness and craziness as a human being.
